The weather forecasters are calling for snow. I like snow but I don't have to drive in it much. (All you warm weather fans please forgive me!) It beautifies the landscape and just makes things clean looking again. It covers up a lot of litter along the road as well as other unpleasant sights.
Interestingly God uses snow as an illustration to the wayward nation of Israel. Isaiah called them a "sinful nation. ...They have forsaken the Lord. ...The whole head is sick." (Is 1:4,5) However, if they would repent and turn back toward Him, "Though their sins be like scarlet, they shall be white as snow." (Is 1:8)
Do you remember your life before Christ? Before Christ we were a bleak dark winter landscape - dead...not dead physically but dead spiritually in trespasses and sins. But when we received Him by faith our landscape was changed permanently as one covered with a pure white snow. It required the blood of the Lamb to cleanse us from our sin and makes us snow white. And just as the snow makes the landscape clean, it also makes it new. And we too are a new creation (II Cor 5:17) with the opportunity to have a relationship with Him. What will I do with this opportunity?
