"Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." (Luke 20:25)

The Babylonians conquered the Jews in three stages beginning in 605 B.C. and transported many of the captives to Babylon. They selected the best of the Hebrew youth and attempted to train (brain-wash) them to become good little heathens. Most of us are familiar with four of these kids: One ended up in a lion's den; the other three in a fiery furnace. (See the book of Daniel)

We have seen this repeated time and time again throughout history. While the slaughter of millions by the Hitler's, Stalin's, Mao's and a thousand other despots are well known, their more insidious actions are often overlooked. Back then and today, upon assuming power they go straight for the children. The kids must be reprogrammed and trained to give their faith, loyalty and lives completely to the State (Caesar).

However, the Bible instructs us to train our children to give their faith, loyalty and lives completely to God. (Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:1-4)

Seems we have just arrived at another one of those Caesar or God standoffs. And again, our secular citizens have no problem placing their vote with Caesar, while professing Christian's views are dispersed all over the place. (See part 1)

Who do you want educating your children? Well, one answer a Christian might give is both Caesar and God have their place provided the former doesn't usurp the later. The State can teach the three R's and perhaps even history, science and such, if just facts are taught minus unproven theories, popular cultural bias and political innuendo. A lot of people maintain that's how it was in the United States until the early to mid-nineteen sixties. And since then - what? Have our children been getting a Babylonian education?

Next time - Good little humanists.
