One day while meditating upon this scripture verse, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10. My thoughts went to a world that is in rebellion against the one who made them, against His love, compassion, mercy, grace, but also against His justice, Lordship, and authority. And in this world of rebellion are mileposts and beacons of light in the night that point out and show the way to this LORD of forgiveness and grace. The beacons attest to a different world, a different life, a different way. To a life that lives not only simultaneously with this rebellious world, but actually within the world of the rebels, a life lived right among them. This world of righteousness coexists side by side with the world of rebelliousness. Not only do they coexist but every one of those who live in the world of righteousness, who walk among the world of rebels once, were rebels themselves.

They were born into the world of rebelliousness, for they like all rebels, from birth were only interested in one thing, themselves! What they wanted, when they wanted it, and how they could obtain it. The problem with the rebellious world and the rebels is that not everything that they want for themselves is good. Good for themselves or good for others. In fact the natural tendency of a rebel is to seek after that which is self destructive, which enslaves, destroys, is bad for, that which is not right but wrong. There is a sense of what they should be and how they should live and at times they try to escape the grasp of rebellion, but find after repeated failures that they cannot escape their own rebellious heart. They see those of the world of righteousness living right and doing so right among them, but they are powerless to live right as the Creator instructs.

Frustrated and powerless to live righteously, the world of rebelliousness creates its own standard of righteous living and lashes out in anger and hate at the world of righteousness. If they could rid the world, of the world of righteousness, then they would not be reminded of their failure to attain the right living that is demanded by the Creator. Outraged with rebellion they strike out at every opportune moment in their quest to eliminate the world of righteousness. But, those in the world of righteousness know they can’t live in the world of righteousness by their own strength, in fact they couldn’t get out of the world of rebelliousness themselves, they needed to be saved from that world by the Creator Himself. All they did was call out for salvation to the name of the LORD and He gave them a heart of righteousness and placed them in the world of righteousness.

Now, once in the world of righteousness, the name of the LORD is a strong tower to them when troubles pursue, when the world of rebelliousness calls out to them or tries to lure them back to rebelliousness. And those in the world of righteousness run to their refuge (the name of the LORD), their strong tower, and are safe. They are safe from the world of rebelliousness, and safe from their own rebellious heart. Now that you know about the two worlds, tell me, which one do you live in?
