In a Blog on August 20th we marveled at how God turns our little into a lot. Here we’ll share the story of one man’s experience with this truth. In 1938 Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, a Jewish couple on vacation in Romania met an old German carpenter, Christian Wolfkes and his wife, who shared the Gospel with them. They became believers in Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach in Hebrew. They in turn began a journey of evangelism to the Jewish and Gentile people. They endured terrible persecution and horrendous torture for many years at the hands of the Nazis and then the Communists. They also saw God work many miraculous works through their lives. Eventually the Wurmbrands founded The Voice of the Martyrs which still powerfully impacts our world today.

On one occasion, Richard was speaking before a large crowd and recounted his conversion. He noticed an old man in the audience just weeping. Pastor Wurmbrand went to him afterwards to see what troubled the man. The man said his name was Pitter. He was a wheelwright in Romania. Years before he had led a German carpenter by the name of Christian Wolfkes to Christ. He thought all he had managed to do in his Christian walk was bring one man, the carpenter, to the Lord. He was astounded how God had multiplied his ministry to bless so many around the world. And as writer Peter Colón points out: “Today The Voice of the Martyrs is one of the largest organizations in the world aiding the persecuted church - all because a wheelwright led a carpenter to the Lord who then led Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand to Jesus.” (from Israel My Glory Magazine, Sept/Oct issue)

His name was Pitter, a wheelwright from Romania. He gave what he was given by God. God then turned his little into a lot. “Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9)
